Since my last posting, I've started to get e-mail asking me how to configure the E90 to work with XS4ALL's VoIP. The following settings work for me with firmware 7.40.1.2 and should work for other types of Nokia phone that offer Internet calling.
Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> SIP settings:
Profile name: XS4ALL
Service profile: IETF
Default access point: xxxxxxxx (name of your WLAN profile)
Public user name: xxxxxxxxxx@sip.xs4all.nl (your XS4ALL VoIP number)
Use compression: No
Registration: Always on
Use security: No
Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> SIP settings -> Proxy server:
Proxy server address: sip.xs4all.nl
Realm: sip.xs4all.nl
User name: xxxxxxxxxx (your XS4ALL VoIP number)
Password: xxxx (your XS4ALL VoIP password)
Allow loose routing: Yes
Transport type: Auto
Port: 5060
Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> SIP settings -> Registrar server:
Registrar server address: sip.xs4all.nl
Realm: sip.xs4all.nl
User name: xxxxxxxxxx (your XS4ALL VoIP number)
Password: xxxx (your XS4ALL VoIP password)
Transport type: Auto
Port: 5060
Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Internet tel -> Default:
Name: Default
SIP profiles: XS4ALL
Once you've configured the phone, type in the number you want to call, then select:
Options -> Call -> Internet call.

Thanks for this!
Is it right that the
Public user name: xxxxxxxxxx@sip.xs4all.nl
is the XS4ALL VoIP number?

That's correct, yes. I've amended the entry to reflect this.

Sorry to keep bugging you on this, but I keep getting "registration failed".
I note that several of the fields you give above get converted in my phone. For instance, the 'public user name', the 'proxy server address' and the 'registrar server address' all get "sip:' added to the front of them. Did that happen to you too?
And did you have to do anything to your firewall?
Thanks!

Yes, those same fields also get converted on my phone.
No, I didn't have to do anything special to my firewall. I use it in the default mode, as it was when I unpacked the box.
The above settings work fine for me. I'm currently in Iceland and making VoIP calls is no problem at all.
Do you have the latest firmware installed? If so, just double-check the SIP settings to ensure they reflect the above settings. If not, install the latest firmware, as that may contain important fixes; I don't know.
Just a thought: are you really using your XS4ALL VoIP password? That's not the same thing as your normal log-in password; nor should you be using your VoIP PIN code.

Yes, I have the latest firmware; I've checked the SIP setting dozens of times; I've checked the password; I've tried the XS4all SoftPhone on my PC and that works, and it still doesn't work on my e90. Sigh :-(
Oh well, thanks for your help. I hope the XS4all helpdesk replies. Not a peep from them in a week...

The only other thing I can think of is that there's a problem with having multiple devices initiating sessions to XS4ALL using the same phone number at the same time.
On the other hand, having my mobile phone and DSL modem registered at the same time doesn't appear to be a problem, although I haven't checked whether both devices would ring if an incoming call was made.

After doing some reading, I believe your problem probably is that you have your ADSL modem registered to the SIP server on the same phone number and at the same time that you're trying to register via the E90.
Are you using a SpeedTouch 780 modem? If you're using an earlier model or you're using the 780 with firmware other than the XS4ALL-branded firmware (version 6.2.17.5 on mine), this will be a problem, as the modem will not want to relinquish control of the session.
The easiest fix is to request a second VoIP number from XS4ALL and register from your E90 using that one. Then there will be no conflict.
